Remember I went to the country last weekend and got a chance to go to the Ten Mile Store. An old goods store that had been closed for many years, now reopened to the occasional traveler who would venture 10 miles down the road to find hidden treasures of long ago.
I found this mirror way in the back, behind a bunch of odds and ends. It had a price tag of $15 on it.
YES. $15.
It is 30" in diameter and very heavy, I am assuming lead glass.
I love the Fleur de Lis on the top! I first tried do a wash of old white and it did not look right. So I wiped it off and decided to use rub and buff in silver.
The trick for a larger piece with rub and buff is to thin it with paint thinner. I used it
straight out of the tube on everything I could get my fingers to and then I used the diluted
mix on ALL the cracks and crevices. It was a lot more labor intensive than I thought it would be.
Here is the finished mirror, It will hang in my 1/2 bath when
I end up getting it painted!!hopefully soon!!
Another thing to knock off the list.
