Welcome to Link Party #5-"Wait a wee Meenit Wednesday's'

Whatcha got??

You can link up anything you are proud of. It can be a craft, furniture refinishing, anything DIY, a recipe, tips or tutorials, I am not picky! There are some rules, but not to many and they are not too strict. If you would like to have a chance to be featured, make sure you follow these simple rules.
  1. Be a follower of a wee Meenit.
  2. Make sure to add my button to the post you are linking up.
  3. Try to look around at fellow link ups. Sometimes something that doesn't look that interesting in a space the size of a postage stamp can be deceiving, but if you click it anyway, you will be amazed at all the stuff you could have missed.
  4. no giveaways or Etsy shops
That's it!!

Link Party #4 Highlights-'Wait a wee Meenit'

Well, it's time for the party highlights, here are a few of my favorites!

Mandy From The Project Queen did this amazing post about Painting TipsMy favorite is the... I guess you are gonna have to head over and decide
which is your favorite, I don't want to spoil it for you!

Next is this White Wild Horse Book end that Sherry from Pondered Primed Perfected (P3) found. It had a wood finish on it that had seen better days. She decided to just paint it white and I think it shows off all the detail even better now. And she is not limited to just using it as a book end either!
I LOVE the Icky Dresser redo that Carrie at Comfortably Carried Away tackled! She made this stencil herself and cut it our of clear contact paper. OK. Really?? All that detail? Amazing to me!!! I am about to start a redo on my daughters room and I think this is the perfect look for the dresser (that I have not found yet! LOL)

Again, thanks for adding to my little linky party, it means alot to me!! If you were featured grab a button!!

Valentine Kissing Ball

I know it is so close to Valentines day, and almost everyone is done with any decor you may be creating/putting out. But I made these a week or so ago and just never got around to posting about them.

You will need
Styrofoam ball
crepe paper color of your choice
hot glue
Styrofoam hearts on stick (dollar tree)

For the pink one, I cut strips to about 14". if you want them a different size, cut accordingly.
I started to wrap the roses and you can find the full tutorial on my post about my

To make the one below I used the same technique I did on my Scrappy Burlap Tree I did
for Christmas. You can see that technique here. The only difference is that I used pink and made a heart shape first, then the white around it. I actually cut the pink a bit shorter after I had it glued on. I also trimmed the white to make it more even and circular. (OK fine, cause I am a hairdresser and I love to cut things! Happy??)

I bought a pack of hard foam hearts on red sticks at the dollar store. I just carefully twisted off the heart from  the stick and turned it around so that the bottom of the heart is now the 'arrow' in the front, and carefully pushed it into the foam and then hit it with a dollop of hot glue.

(secret: I was a bit tired of making this one, so the back is actually
unfinished! Maybe next year I will fill it in!)
Easy as pie!

My parents got engaged on Valentines day in 1960. My
Mom made this ceramic heart box for my Dad's Mother.

I never even knew it existed until my Grandfather passed away and my Mom and I had started to clear some of their stuff out. I usually keep this on my guest room dresser, close to the back so it does not fall. It did get a chip somehow in the last few years.

I have not gotten around to fixing it yet. Can you see it on the top of the rose?

If you like this, Pin it and you can make it next year!!

Wait a wee Meenit #3 features

So here are the features for the Wait a Wee Meenit Wednesday's #3 Party.

IMG_0817

First up is Conversation Heart Specimen Art from Cassity at Remodelaholic.
This is so stinking cute. I was going to do this, bought the bags of hearts and the frame, except I got lazy and started to snack on the bag. With help. From Wyatt. I wonder if they will attract ants or would you have to make new every year? I still love it!

Next is this gorgeous bouquet of Wedding Flowers from Marissa over at Fried Oreos.
I love the twine wrapped stems and just enough bling on top to make it sparkle.
I am not a florist either, but I have done wedding flowers,
and know how frightening they can be to do. You can NOT screw up a brides bouquet!
Great job!

And finally Sopapilla Cheesecake from Amanda over at My Hearts Desire.
This looks so delish! And I have everything I need already!
It looks so simple, I could let my kids make it!
I am not the greatest baker in the world. I tend to leave things out, or miss measure/calculate.
Maybe my husband can make these with the kids. And I can just be quality control.

Thanks for linking up you stuff! I look forward to see what everyone is doing out there,
but more so with people who want to share there stuff directly with me!

grab a button if you were featured!

Valentine Mantle

I finally have all my Valentine decor up. I know, for what, a week??
There are alot of pics, so I will just show you already...

This was my first attempt at bunting!

One of my favorite photo at our wedding!
The glare from the glass makes it seem like it is over exposed, but no.
I did try to fiddle with it in Picnik, but didn't work.

You can't see it, but the antique book is a book of Poems.
I use the mercury glass candle sticks through out the year.
The wreath of roses I bought at a Thrift store and it actually looks like dirty cement.
Unfortionatly it is not a strong. I had two of them...
(I used them in my Halloween mantle too!)

Of course, two other loves of my life!

I got the striped fabric at a Thrift store, about a yard of it for I think $1.
The lace was bought there as well. They had 'I love you', Just Married', and 'Love' on 4
different panels. I just cut them out on top of the triangle I cut out of the fabric.
The red hearts I got there also for $.25 a piece.

Ok, I know. I have tried 14 different ways to get this to stay turned and everything is
good in editing all the way up until I hit 'add selected' in Blogger. Ggggrrrrrrr!

I have had this box of Ireland's Chocolates from St. Louis for a while now, but I have never pulled it out for Valentines day. The paper on the top is a little frayed on the edges, but other than that is it pretty solid.
I am guessing from the girl it is from about the 20's-30's. The small Mercury glass to the right of it is real Mercury glass. It was my husbands Great Grandmothers. I usually have it tucked away in safe keeping. Did you know Mercury glass actually has no Mercury in it? Back when Silver was all the rage, the people who could not afford it, bought 'Mercury looking glass' to fool you. Funny how it is more popular now than the Silver.

I also did a few little Valentine day crafts. I will post those tomorrow!

Also I will be linking up my Wait a wee Meenit Wednesday's party, so stop back by!

Getting there...

So I have been trying to organize over here at the old homestead. My cabinets and closets are in shambles.
Not exciting enough to share with you though, maybe when they are all done, I will do a photo collage.
I did find a dresser for my bedroom over the weekend.
I originally thought it would work in my daughters room, but it is too long. I then remembered that I have a mound of clothes on a chair in my bedroom. It has been in several different stages, from absolutely clean to piled high with clean clothes. It never occurred to me that I may need a BIGGER dresser!!

I am in the middle of redoing the Mater bedroom and here are a few elements already in the room.

duvet cover

Here is the bedding, minus the blue.

here is a 1920's vanity I just hand painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint! Antibes green with a touch of old white & duck egg blue for the handles, clear wax, LOVE it! I am looking for inspiration to redo the chair, any ideas??

Here is my vanity as a side table. The french chair is on my 'LIST'.

new bedding & bed I will do paint treatment on, grey??

Here is the bed minus the bedding.

Aged Silver Finish tutorial, LOVE this idea for a mirror I am going to do for the bedroom!

I am thinking of doing this finish on the bed.

I have an antique armoire that my husband does not want me to paint, and it is a nice rich brown.
Not too dark and not too light. I am ok with alot of different neutrals in the room. So here are some thoughts...
eitherer way, I am  going to prime the entire thing, it has a bit of a smell, not too bad, but I do not want to smell it at all. SO I have bought the primer and the paint.
I am thinking about black.
But I am unsure about the drawers.
So here is a peek at them...

See how the scrolls come off the handles? I am keeping the handles, so do I want to just paint the handles a different color and keep the rest black or do I want to accentuate the scrolls off the handles.

black painted dresser

See how this black is trimmed out in white? I am thinking of painting the scrolls in white or silver. But my only hesitation is that there are 9 drawers, and that could be good or bad. Busy enough or too busy??
But...

I do have an unopened can of ASCP in Cocoa that I have been dieing to use.
HELP!
any ideas or thoughts??
