Link Party #4 Highlights- Christmas gifts or ornaments for $10 or less

So here we are, Highlights for the last Christmas Blog Hop!

I can't believe the Blog Hop is over!

I want to personally thank Mandy from Project Queen for being my partner in this link party. 

She has been so helpful to me as this was my first venture into Link Party's.

So here are my Highlight's.

First up is a beautiful Wreath from Tales of a Trophy Wife.

I love that you only need fabric, glue gun and some upholstery tacks. I plan on trying this wreath 

around Valentines day, I can imagine the fun fabrics even now!

Next I chose Miniatures in a Jar from Salt Tree. (2 features in a row, she is on a roll!)

I have always loved snow globes, but I find that they are a little boring unless the snow is 

blowing around. I love the idea of a snow globe that actually lights up! She gives a great step by step that looks so easy to duplicate!

And lastly I chose the Dollar Store Wreath from Everything has a Place.

She bought 5 packs of silver ball ornaments and 2 rolls of ribbon for a total of $7 

and I think this wreath looks like a million buck!

Next up is Mandy of the Project Queen for her Highlights this week.

                  Mandy: My first choice is the Nativity Block that Brook from Babblings and More made.

I love this Silhouette Nativity Scene. It reminds me of what Christmas is really all about.

                             My 2nd choice is Artsy VaVa's sweet Cupcake Ornament.

 

She estimated that these cute ornaments cost about $2 each to make. 

They look complicated to make, but they aren't!

My 3rd choice is this Ice Skate Swag that Bonnie from A Wee Meenit made. 

I love the colors that she used. So crisp, fresh and clean looking on her front door. Bonnie's ice skate swag needed to be one of the highlights even though she is hosting this party!

Christmas Gifts & Ornaments for $10 or Less Blog Hop # 4 and Hilights from Last week

I am so excited to share some of the links that were Linked up last week. I have truly gotten a lot of ideas and inspiration along with some great instructions and tutorials on how to achieve them!

My first choice I had to go with the Glittering Musical Ornament from Salt Tree. I think the idea of reusing a music box you have found in an old unwanted object, and reusing it in something to have on your tree year after year! And who doesn't love the prospect of using Mod Podge and Glitter?!

LOVE this!!

Next up is the adorable Melted Snowman Tutorial from Flexible Dreams. I have a soft spot for Snowmen, having collected them for so long. I am going to make gift tags with them as well as share them with my Girl Scout Troop, I CAN NOT WAIT! The tutorial looks soooo easy!

This week I am sneaking in another pick because I love this one so much too!! It is the Anthropology Inspired Brushed Lace Cardigan from Two Butterflies! Since I have just ventured into the sewing world recently, I can appreciate this so much more! I love when someone can just look at an object and say 'I can make that' cause it usually turns out better as is the case with this one!!

 I have had so much fun hosting this with Mandy over at the Project Queen! If you haven't checked out her blog, you need to. She is so very talented and one of my first real Blogging friend!!

Now for Mandy from the Project Queen!

Stevie from Garden Therapy shared how to make these amazing Beeswax Flower Mason Jar Candles.

I would LOVE to receive a gift like this. I have always been a bit intimidated about making candles, but after reading Stevie's tutorial I think I could do it!

Brandy from Gluesticks shared with us how to make Etched Gift Jars.

I think these are so cute. I was always looking for something to do for teachers (when my kids were little). Especially something they could use over and over again.

I'm picking a third feature because Bonnie did (although my reasoning isn't as good as her's...ha!).

Shirley from These Moments of Mine made this adorable Embroider Hoop Ornament. I just love this!

Think of the possibilities with these! You could paint the hoop, add different embellishments, AND different fabric. Great job Shirley!

Christmas gifts or ornament for $10 or less blog hop #3

So crazy week huh? My kids are out of school already! Whatever happened to just getting the actual Holiday off? I love spending time with them, but i do get alot more done when school is in session So for last weeks Christmas Gifts or Ornaments for $10 or less #2 party I chose 2 more great feature!

I loved the leg warmers that Lina from Fancy Frugal Life  made out of adult socks! You know I am on a sewing kick right now, so I can't wait to try these out for my daughter, they look so fun and easy to do!

Next up I chose the Lavender Body Salts & Mason Jar from Eva @ Delightful Creations!

I think it would be a perfect hostess, teacher or babysitter gift, or just a nice stocking stuffer!

We had some great link ups this week. I chose two of my favorites and Bonnie from A Wee Meenit will choose her 2 favorites! Christy from Love Everyday made these adorable Christmas ornaments from cardboard, yarn, hot glue and a few embellishments that she had on hand.

I just love these! Especially the "M". I need to make some for my kids.

The 2nd link up that I chose was the Mod Podge Bow Holder that Lina from Fancy Frugal Life made for her daughter's friend's birthday.

Being a mother of girls , I would have LOVED this as a gift for my daughter. We had hair bows everywhere! The initial is the icing on the cake!

Cable knit sweater candle holder

So yesterday to introduce our Christmas ornament or gift for $10 or less 

Blog Hop, I made a Cable knit sweater pillow you can see here. I got the sweater for $3 at Goodwill.

I had the sleeves as leftover and what better way to use them as candle holders!!

I had the vase, but I am sure you can find any varying heights that would work at a thrift store for very little money. I also have a red sweater I am going to make into a  shorter candle holder.

 I honestly don't know which one was easier, the pillow or the candle holder! I had the vase already so I slipped the sleeve over it until the vase would go no further. It will be tight (at least for this vase it was).

I pulled it down until it could go no further.

This is the finished one with a battery tea light in it, but you can see there is only a little of the sweater hanging over the candle and I didn't even need to glue it!

I turned it upside down an started to wrap it like a gift.  Except I did not overlap it, I cut out triangular pieces 

so that the sweater would lay flat. This is important as you don't want an uneven base. I pulled it very tight and used my new low temp glue gun!! <angels rejoicing  in unison!!!> Who knew there was a low temp glue gun?? No more 3rd degree burns and it holds just as well as the high temp ones. In the photo shown above, it does not have to be pretty, just covered. I even cut put little strips to fill in her or there and you really can not tell!

I am so thrilled with how it turned out!!! I love the look! 

And as far as this goes being a $10 or less Christmas gift, it was FREE! I had everything and the sleeves were leftover, so I think that's a pretty good deal. And again, it's under $10 to make, it is recycling, and it is made with love, by me!!
