My new baby...

So my hubby bought me a camera for Christmas. It is a Nikon D3000. I have an SLR and a digital Canon, but never a DSLR. I have only used it a little because the learning curve on it is huge for me. I have reread the manual 4 times, bought a field guide on it, signed up for a class and this weekend I was brave enough to use it while I was out in the country.
Nikon D3000 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G & 55-200 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lenses
I also am using Picasa and Picnik for the first time, and other huge learning curve there!!

I took 193 pictures. I did everything I could think of with this camera and tried different settings, lots of different subject matters. Here are a few photos I am sharing, as I am still editing.

I did a tad bit of editing on these photos, at this point I am doing what looks right. Not sure that is the best way to go about it, but I do LOVE my new camera. It snowed last night in St. Louis and this morning on my way out the door I saw a big fat Male Cardinal sitting at the edge of our woods near the bird feeder. I hope he is there tomorrow so I can capture him in all his Cardinal red glory!!

An Autumn Sunday at a corn maze

This past Sunday, my in-laws came in town for a visit. We had never been to the corn maze
cross town, so we decided to finally go. Here are a few pics that captured our day.

The kids love to spend time with their Grandma & Papa!

The weather was absolutely perfect!

My son Wyatt loves anything with a saddle on it, even a bale of hay!

The farm has been around for over 100 years and had everything you would expect to see
on a farm (well, no pigs).

lots of chickens & one rooster (lucky guy)

cows

A super cool maze that we found hidden stakes in with a letter on it. It spelled out the farm name.

A boy & his granddaddy!

I did not know corn grew this tall!!

There was even a hay ride driven by the owner on his tractor.

After Wyatt tried unsuccessfully to catch a chicken my hubby caught it for him.

When I tried to catch this one, well, it was kinda a joke!

This gall thought my shoelace was a worm.

Wyatt loved that he could 'pet' the chickens!
We usually will go apple picking in late September, but the time got away from us.
I miss the apples & will have to make sure to go early next year!

Some fall fun

I am my daughters troop Girl Scout leader  and we took the troop to the pumpkin patch last night.
My hubby met up with us there with Wyatt, so he could enjoy it too!

I only have a few pics that did not have the other girls in it, so I will not be showing those.

They have 6 large sandboxes filled with dried corn. I mean a bazillion kernals.

Wyatt had so much fun entertaining himself in the corn.

Here is a slittle neak peak at our Halloween graveyard. The witches face was painted with
what other than ASCP in Antibes Green! I will let you know how it stands up to the elements!
I will reveal the entire yard when it is finished.

I am off work on Wednesdays and I enjoy hanging out with Wyatt as this is his last year before
attending grade school (yikes). Today we played with the Incredible Hulk, and some mini pumpkins where our amo!!
